Hi Edwin and Steven,

Happy New Year! I hope my message finds you well.  My name is Oscar Agusil and I am the communication specialist at USAID/Mexico.  Our Mission Director, Bruce Abrams, shared with me the interest of having him participate on the Global Business News TVTalkshow.  We think this could be a great opportunity to share USAID’s work and how this helps strengthen the bilateral relationship between the US and Mexico.

In order to prepare for this, I was wondering if you could help me with the following questions:

  1. Is there a structure that the show follows?  If so, could you please provide more details?
  2. Are there any specific topics you wish the Mission Director addresses? Any expectations we should be aware of?  If possible, could you provide some questions in advance?
  3. Is the show live or is it pre-recorded?  Also, could you propose a possible time and date for the show to take place?

Thank you in advance for your help with this.

Best,

Oscar

USAID is the world’s premier international development agency and a catalytic actor driving development results. USAID’s work advances U.S. national security and economic prosperity, demonstrates American generosity, and promotes a path to recipient self-reliance and resilience.

Good morning Oscar.

Happy New Year to you as well. And thanks for your message and questions.

Ed runs and hosts this show on Mexico and Latin America. I am his co-host on two other programs, but because I moved to Mexico City last year I am helping him identify guests for his show. As I have met Bruce on a couple of occasions, I was the one who introduced him to Ed and suggested this would be a good forum for the audience to learn about USAID in Mexico and anything that USAID is doing that promotes the development of the middle class in Mexico or helps to make Mexico a better investment or market for international companies.

The structure is very simple: it is an open dialogue between 3 and 6 guests discussing development trends in Mexico and Latin America. Ed is the host (kind of a Larry King equivalent if you know the reference) and keeps the discussion going. This is done from a PR perspective, not a hard-core journalistic one. So there are no “hard ball” or “political” type questions.

The topics I have suggested to Bruce and Ed are:

What are the key activities of USAid in Mexico?

What progress have you seen in your 15+ months in Mexico?

Are the activities of USAid in Mexico helping to expand the middle class in Mexico? How?

What are the next big aspects of US-Mexico cultural exchange?

But, of course, you and Bruce should submit any specific questions you want Ed to ask.

The show is recorded. The next show recording is on January 14th at noon (CDMX time). I am not sure of the date for February, but suspect it will likely be on Feb 11th or 18th. Ed can advise on this.

I hope this covers you main queries. Ed can fill in any other details for you.

FYI, I will likely attend the Jan 14th show as a guest, giving my perspective as an American entrepreneur based in Mexico City.

All the best,

Steven

THANK YOU Steven and hello Oscar from me in San Diego. New Year greetings to you.

I believe in editorial collaboration because it brings the “3Cs”; comfort, convenience, and some control. Send me key words or key phrases focusing on items for special mention. A true win/win…doing it helps me prep by learning what’s most important, manage talkflow, and clock watch.

We should aim for 30 minutes but 35 or 40 also ok.

Regards and I’m honoured to showcase USAID.
