Haley Friary is SPHR, GPHR, and SHRM-certified and was a past Board Member and VP of Communications at Personnel Association of Sonoma County. Friary completed the HR Executive Summit program at Stanford University in 2008 and 2009 as well as participated in the Organizational Behavior & Leadership program at Pennsylvania State University.
A strategic Global Human Resource Executive with over 15+ years of experience, Haley is an integral member of the executive team, Friary navigated both VC backed and public companies through global strategies and successful hyper-growth of up to 10X.
Friary scaled organizations from greenfield to full business cycles and completed numerous commercial exits which included two back to back IPOs (Aerohive Networks and Enphase Energy) and a public M&A transaction (Teknovus) for a combined valuation of $300M+.
With extensive international experience, Haley Friary has established 20+ entities from inception to 800+ employees worldwide while ensuring local labor compliance in EMEA, APAC, ANZA, and the Americas.
She has recruited, hired, on-boarded, and mentored global executive teams that built solid organizations and increased revenue on average by 3X. Industry experience includes: semi conductor chipset design and manufacturing (SW and HW), solar energy microinverter design and manufacturing (SW and HW), wireless networking (SaaS), consumer electronics (SW and device support), solar thermal technology design, e-commerce (SaaS), manufacturing and projects.
Friary brings to the boardroom strong skills sets in strategy development, which includes M&A, IPO, and global compensation as well as marketing and sales leadership. She is a trusted Company representative she’s been a part of working closely with compensation committees and Board of Directors where she analyzes, creates, compares, and communicates the company position and strategy on global workforce planning, equity, bonus, compensation and benefits ensuring global corporate governance.
Friary spent 16 years in Silicon Valley technology companies before recently relocating to Austin, Texas
Haley Friary currently is Sr.Manager HRBP’s and Global HR for BigCommerce, located in Austin, Texas. BigCommerce is a paid-for, ‘hosted’ e-commerce solution that allows business owners to set up an online store and sell their products online. It’s a software as a service (SaaS) product, which means that you don’t own the software, but pay a monthly fee to use it.
BigCommerce has over 700 employees worldwide. She is responsible for managing the HR generalists in UK, Sydney, and Kiev, in addition to supporting the CMO and Global Marketing Organization.
Before BigCommerce, Friary was the Chief Human Resources Officer at Glasspoint Solar in Fremont CA. (Solar energy technology) where her responsibilities included HR, operational, and strategic leadership as well as preparing the company for an exit. Friary successfully merged the US, China, and Oman operations into a unified Corporate Center and implemented a worldwide compensation matrix, modeling market data analytics across three global GEOS.
Prior to Glasspoint Solar, Haley was at HR-Squared (Human Resources) as a Senior Principal where she had a notable consulting engagement at Apple in the AppleCare and Apple Software business groups. She spearheaded a major process re-engineering project which impacted 20,000 employees as well as led four concurrent work teams where she identified $6M+ in cost-saving benefits. Friary also centralized policies, processes, procedures, intern programs, and mentored engineering leadership training for the Apple Software Group at Apple Headquarters in California.
Prior to HR-Squared, Friary was the CHRO, SVP, and Global Human Resources executive at Navis (SaaS Software) and was responsible for identifying and developing global leadership while aligning compensation practices worldwide. Friary restructured US, India, EU, and APAC operations.
At Aerohive Networks (wireless AP’s, switches, and SaaS) Friary was responsible for leading the HR function through IPO readiness, equity planning, ESPP, Exec Comp, Sales Comp, and bonuses. Friary implemented three HRIS platforms and built a global HR team of 20+. In the first 90 days, Friary increased sales staff from 50 to 150 which resulted in a 3X increase in revenue over 12 months and allowed the company to become IPO ready. She was a regular presenter to the Comp Committee.
Friary held various senior leadership positions at Enphase Energy, Teknovus Inc., Creative Software Alliance, and ICC / MSX International. At Enphase Energy, Friary completed an IPO, at Teknovus Inc., she closed a public acquisition, and at Creative Software Alliance and ICC / MSX International, Friary increased revenue substantially as the top sales and business development leader.
