There are 2 types of directional strategies EVERY leader needs to know: Which one do you lean towards?
PEOPLE-ORIENTED | PROCESS-ORIENTED
People-Oriented
Pros: • High degree of loyalty • You went to my kid’s baseball game last week
Cons: • People wonder if you care about the results • Is there enough urgency?
Process-Oriented
Pros: • No question about your urgency • You get things done
Cons: • Engagement levels are lower • People wonder, do they really care about me? • Do they know my partner’s name?
Your goal: To find a happy medium.
• Create intentional experiences in the area that you don’t naturally lean towards. • Surround yourself with people who are the opposite of you.
This level of balance is critical for high levels of engagement and ensuring we have urgency to deliver results.
