What does it mean to be a winner of the

COMMUNICATOR

of-the-year

AWARD ?

First of all, these are business awards yet they have nothing to do with spending money on ads or sponsorships or donations.

This year’s winners all have the following characteristics; they are do-ers and they each tell-a-story, each is a problem-solver and their actions and their follow-thrus create a “communication”, actually a leadership aura..

This year’s winners are each leaders, but each for a different reason(s).

Today, they each will tell their story.

You are invited to participate… sign-up to participate.

We are all about “networking”.

Remember, it’s not about who-you-know.

ANDREW

ELLIMAN

“On Saturday the 18th of Sept, I stepped into the salty water of the sea from the beach they call Shakespeare’s beach on the shores of Dover, in the United Kingdom.

English Channel 2021I could not believe it, that my moment had finally come to swim the English Channel. It had been a whole three years, since I first announced to the world, that I was going to take on what they call the Everest of the sea.

What made this challenge even harder, was the fact that three years ago, my biggest fear was water and not being able to swim.

My mother at the time, was very ill and was in the last few weeks of her life. In those weeks before she passed, we had many conversations and one such conversation was me telling my mum I was thinking of learning to swim, in order to swim the English Channel. My mother closed her eyes and shook her head in disbelief, then turned to me and said “go for it son, life is just too short”.

A few days later she passed away and it wasn’t too long afterwards I announced to the world that I was going to attempt to swim the English Channel.

I clearly remember my first swimming lesson in a pool no deeper than my waist, learning how to breathe around water and floating techniques.”

About

I HELP IMMIGRATION & GLOBAL MOBILITY FIRMS AND FOUNDERS GROW WITH TECH, MARKETING & CONTENT.

But first I practiced immigration law, and I remember my first day as an immigration attorney so vividly, as well as my last…

On my first day I was wearing a full suit – not quite ill-fitting but not inspiring either. It was a Monday morning, and I left the house with a black bag hanging from my right shoulder. In it was a notepad, a few pens and my water bottle.

Halfway to the office I walked by a parked car with particularly clean windows and caught my own reflection.

It made me stop for a moment. A million different emotions passed through me with lightning speed, but the net result was a half-smile.

“Wow,” I mused. “I can’t believe I’m a real immigration lawyer.”

I tightened my double Windsor, took a deep breath and continued walking.

On my last day, I was wearing jeans and suede dress shoes. No jacket, no tie. I was standing outside the office building holding a box of my stuff in one hand and my iPhone in the other, waiting for my Uber.

The car took a wrong turn and rerouted, but I couldn’t care less. My mind was zooming.

Because you see, I had so many ideas about the immigration industry, and now I was free to pursue them.

I hated dealing with H-1B compliance – it was manual, error-prone and costly. I wanted to build a platform that automated the LCA compliance process.

So I did.

I also had ideas about how to build an immigration business through creative branding and marketing. I wanted to use my writing and theater experience to breathe some life into our industry.

So I did.

Do I miss being an immigration lawyer? Sometimes. But I’m so much better at helping OTHERS be great instead.

How do I do this?

I launched LaborLess, a platform that helps immigration lawyers and in-house teams automate LCA posting and PAF management. We support both law firms and employers, big and small.

I also launched GMI Rocket, a digital marketing agency focused on the immigration and global mobility industry that helps firms and companies in the industry grow with social media, creative content, events, a podcast and more.

And I’ve taken to the “stage” to speak about immigration tech, marketing and branding at AILA, SHRM, ERC, BAMM, law schools, on podcasts and more.

If you’re an immigration or global mobility business, I can make your life easier.

If you’re an immigration, HR or mobility organization, a law school, podcast, etc., I can come speak to your members, students and listeners about making their lives easier.

YVONNE

QUAHE

Quick note from Global Mobility Book Club  Sandra Corona

Hi everyone, if you don’t know Yvonne, she works at the World Bank and has an extensive experience in relocations and global life.

The experiences shared in her book will be a treasure for anyone wishing to support a global corporation, entity, families abroad, pre-expatriation and repatriation.

As a current expat in the Middle East, life might seem glamorous and great from the outside but the motions of the experience and the process from start to finish can leave a feeling of not belonging both at home and host.

It’s the same feeling as grief.

If grief is a hard thing to talk about for you or experience, Yvonne will reframe it beautifully for you from a corporate meaningful perspective.
