As a hashtag#leader we are needing to become ever more dynamic, this is wherever we are a manager with people in our team, an executive or even a leader in an individual contributor role
So it is important for us to centre ourselves and think more wholistically, and this concept from Timothy T Tiryaki, PhD in his infographic really stood out to me to look at 6 different areas that we need to lead in.
The 6 areas are pretty self-explanatory, and really helped me frame up strengths and weaknesses in a different way and will help me focus in on improvements. Have you ever stepped back and thought about your leadership in this way? If not, you should, leadership is always a work in progress, it never stops and you need to constantly evolve and you need to step up to different levels as your business/team grows, or you take on that larger/more mature client. We should stop to reflect on where we have come from and celebrate our journeys and this kind of exercise can really help with that.
It is also worth while understanding if you want to continue growing or you have reached a plateau, maybe you are a middle manager and are happy there, maybe you are at a business size that you like with client sizes and maturity that you like.
A deliberate decision not to keep progressing upwards can be extremely empowering, but be aware that it is a trade off, you need to be happy with your ceiling, but also not get complacent and lazy where things change around you and you become redundant. You can keeping developing without needing the bigger titles, being pushed way too far out of your comfort zone, you just need to be deliberate! Just don’t be static, and be more wholistic, which this view should give you a different perspective to reflect on.
