Thank you David. Over the many years I’ve been working with leaders, I’ve had to remind them that their every word carries great weight — more than they’d like it to in many cases. It’s a big responsibility to be so very thoughtful about what you say, when you say it, and who you say it to, but it’s essential for leaders to embrace that responsibility. Leaders are a nexus through which the organization’s thoughts, aspirations, and anxieties pass on a daily basis.

The nine expressions of leaders of excellence cited by Dr. David Weiss reassure teams. However, it is the attendant posture that cements or otherwise impacts those statements.

Excellent executive and managerial concepts. Why shroud them in the ambiguous term leaders? Why let leaders hold these excellent administrative sayings hostage? The cult of heroic leader worship is well past it’s prime. Co-equal collaboration for co-creation is proving to be a more effective way forward.

Thank you for sharing. A great summary for leaders. Let’s celebrate is often missed- it is so important though for sustainability of continued engagement and organizational success.

Interesting – – managers, followers, and people say those things too. What is the benefit in continuing to support the leader-centric mindset? Why do we persist in clinging to the industrial paradigm of a leader in a world moving toward the postindustrial paradigm of leadership? Leadership is the influence relationship among collaborators who intend and enact real significant changes that reflect their mutual purposes. Leaders and followers both develop to become collaborators. Both leaders and followers do leadership. Leadership is collaboration is action. Also, planning to say things to a preplanned audience is not necessarily authentic. When you internalize profound principles regarding human nature and human psychology at the motive level, you create the neurocircuitry that determines your thoughts and behavior. When you integrate profound knowledge, you personify the principles. When you personify principles they become “automatic”. When you are the personification of principles, you exert unintentional influence on the subconscious mind of others. (Obviously, we also do and say things consciously).
